These clinics resemble health spas more than hospitals, making the surgery seem less scary.
People in the UK have always had cosmetic surgery done but before it was mainly the wealthy who could afford a trip abroad to have surgery in private. They would slip away, pretending to be on an extended holiday while they were really having a facelift. Now, people head to a clinic, have their procedure done safely, and proudly tell everyone they know about it. Why not? There is nothing to be ashamed of, wanting to look better is perfectly normal.
