Vision Correction with Laser Eye Surgery

During the last decade, there has been an explosion in the number of people choosing laser eye surgery in the UK. We routinely see celebrities and sports fans on television talking about their own surgery and how happy they are to now see clearly. Who wouldn’t be tempted to spend a few thousand pounds or less on an operation that has such wonderful and long-lasting benefits?

Laser eye surgery sounded like something out of a science fiction TV show or novel at first. In an hour or so, vision could be corrected to 20/20 using high tech lasers. In reality, laser eye surgery is a safe and effective method of correcting visual problems. The surgery very often eliminates the constant need for glasses.

Thanks to advances in technology, a person can reasonably expect 20/20 vision after laser eye surgery although people over 40 will probably still need reading glasses. The surgery has few side effects, seeing “halos” at night or decreased night vision isn’t even such as problem anymore with Wavefront surgeries. Dry eyes are the most common problem people report but compared to wearing glasses or contacts, using eye drops to relieve the dryness isn’t usually a hassle.

Should you choose laser eye surgery for vision correction, there are many eye clinics and hospitals performing this procedure in the UK. If you are paying for the procedure privately, shop around for the best price.
