The climacteric is a period of change in the female menstrual cycle that takes place between 45 and 50 years old or so, and ends with the final cessation of menstruation. This last phase is called menopause. From the physiological point of view, women have body changes that are determined by the decay hormonal (estrogen and progesterone).
From the functional point of view, it means the end of the reproductive cycle of the woman being the only fertility which is lost, the rest of the phenomena are modifications, not losses.
