What is blood pressure?
Blood pressure indicates the force with which blood pushes the walls of the arteries as it moves through your body. Pressure is common to go up and down throughout the day, but remains high, means that it suffers from high blood pressure or hypertension. High blood pressure may start to damage the blood vessels, heart and kidneys, which can cause a stroke or a heart attack.
If ever the doctor has taken the pressure, you’ve heard the result consists of two numbers. One refers to the systolic and diastolic another. The first number refers to systolic pressure measures the force with which the blood presses the wall of the arteries when the heart beats. The second number measures diastolic pressure, indicating the force with which blood pushes between heartbeats, when the heart is relaxed and fills with blood. For example, it is considered normal blood pressure of 120/80 or less. Any measurement above that is considered high blood pressure.
