• The heart has four chambers: left and right atria and left and right ventricles. The sides, both left and right are completely separated from each other. The atria are the upper chambers of the thin wall that receive blood from the veins. The ventricles are the lower chambers.
• However, the deoxygenated blood from the body enters the right atrium through the vena cava, and then passes into the right ventricle, which pumps it through the pulmonary artery to the lungs.
